Auditions for A Streetcar Named Desire announced

Auditions for Tenessee Williams’ classic drama A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Deborah Edgington, take place at the Chesil Sunday 3 March and Monday 4 March at 7:45 with a read-through on Friday 1 March at 7:45pm.  All are welcome and you don’t have to be a member. CAST LIST for A Streetcar Named Desire

Blanche Du Bois               (playing age late 20s to mid 30s) a complex and contradictory character, an alcoholic, whose helplessness, fragility and vulnerabilities foreshadow her tragic end

Stella Kowalski                 Blanche’s younger sister, gentle and kind. Married to Stanley, Stella has discovered an overpowering physical passion, which Blanche cannot understand. Stella surrenders totally to Stanley, accepting his world and its value

Stanley Kowalski             (playing age late 20s to mid 30s) married to Stella, a Polish immigrant, mean and moody, uneducated, violent, a brute who oozes sexual magnetism

Harold Mitchell (Mitch)  Tall, solidly built, shy, clumsy, but gentle and kind, devoted to his ailing mother; finds himself drawn towards Blanche

Eunice Hubbel                 (playing age 30s to 40s ) She is married to Steve; they live in the upstairs apartment

Steve Hubbel                   (similar age to Eunice) poker friend of Stanley’s

Pablo Gonzales                 another poker friend of Stanley’s

Mexican Flower Seller     doubled up with Pablo

Young Collector               (playing age 17 to early 20s) awkward and uncomfortable, appears at the end of scene five

Sailor                                 doubled up with the Young Collector

Doctor (male)                  Any age, appears in the final scene 

Nurse                                Any age, appears in the final scene

Negro woman                  doubled up with the nurse
